Our favorite grammar center is back in action!

My students and I absolutely L-O-V-E our reading center time.  Last week, they proved that they could work independently at centers, and so it was decided that it was time to introduce
Fix That Sentence!

Here's how it works.
  • Students work with a partner and share a Fix That Sentence booklet (Each booklet remains at the center for an entire week and focuses on a specific skill).
  • Each page has a different sentence that needs to be fixed.  Students work together to read the sentence and identify the mistakes. They then "Fix That Sentence" by writing it correctly on their paper.
  •

My students enjoy taking on the challenge of identifying the mistakes in each sentence and writing the sentence correctly (plus, they also get handwriting and reading practice too!). I enjoy all of the above, but foremost, I appreciate that my students are engaged and excited about grammar.

In other news, we have parent conferences this week at my school.  Followed by TWO weeks of Fall Break (which is very much needed)!
